Walt Kelly on the View Looking Back

Archaeology Quotations

By K. Kris Hirst, About.com

Looking back, the view always improves.

This quote is from a strip originally published in the 1960s where Porky Pine and Pogo Possum have climbed to the top of a mountain to overlook their beloved Ofekenokee Swamp, but it always reminds me of how we often unduly clean up our images of the past.

Walt Kelly. 1970. Impollutable Pogo. Simon & Schuster, p. 100.
