Joseph Prestwich [1812-1896]

By K. Kris Hirst, About.com

Definition: Joseph Prestwich was an English geologist and early archaeologist who is best known in archaeological circles as one of the group who visited Jacques Boucher de Perthes and confirmed de Perthes' findings at Saint-Acheul. Interestingly, a series of unpublished contemplations on geology turned up in 2001, found in the field by geologist Nowell Donovan on a trip to Italy.
