Definition: Professor Pei Wenzhong (anglicized as W.C. Pei) is considered the founding father of Chinese Paleolithic archaeology. Pei excavated at the archaeological site of Zhoukoudian for 14 years, beginning in 1927; and on December 2, 1929 he found the skullcap of Peking Man, the second and confirming evidence of our hominid ancestor Homo erectus (the earliest being Java Man).
