Definition:
The Orange culture is a term for the fishing-based lifeways of the Late Archaic period in central and northeast Florida and southeast coastal Georgia. Orange culture people produced the first ceramics in the state (4,500 to 3,000 BP). Like most early ceramics in the New World, the hand-built ceramics are characterized by fiber-tempering.
In case you are wondering, oranges are not native to the New World, but come from Southeast Asia and India; they are not found at Orange Culture sites.
