Definition:
The archaeological site of Natsushima, located in Kanagawa Province on a small island in Tokyo Bay, Japan, is an early Jomon tradition site, a shell midden dated between 9500 and 6000 before the present. The Jomon peoples living at Natsushima consumed a wide variety of fish and shellfish, using tools such as the toggle harpoon and composite fishhook.
